Non Diabetic Children Worry

This past week while my husband was shopping he had bought a pack of cookies. The next morning while I was getting my four children ready for school, I got a cookie before I could eat it my ten year old son yelled "Don't eat that mommy it can kill you!" I just laugh at him and told him everything was OK. Later that I was on twitter talking to a women about what he had said to me. She told me how this was a real fear that some children have, and act different ways to.

I'm a type two diabetic plus come of a long line of diabetics in my family. My own father died young, lost both legs to diabetes.

After talking to my husband about what our son had said we called a family meeting. We asked all four kids what they was worried about due to my diabetes. It helped that I had been to my Endocrinologist the week before. After letting every kid talk. Then we talked to them about yes I do have diabetes but I was health and had no plains of ever leaving right now. We told them with a controled diet, exercise, talking my medicine, plus keeping good glucose numbers that I could live a long healthy life. We also told them as years go by somethings could change my health but as of now, I'm healthy and nothing would change as I'm not going any where plus I loved them all very much.

Glucose buddy cellphone app

Like many people with diabetes I know how important it is to a log of your blood sugar. Lots of people hate writing it down, then theres trying to remember to take it with you when you go to the Dr. With us living in the world of smart cellphones there's apps for anything. After looking for a medical app to log all my infr on, I found Glucose buddy. The app was small plus you could log many different things. I used this app for a few months so at about eight logs a day I had tons of infr that was needed for my Dr visit. One morning when I went to do my first log of the day the app was messed up and I had lost everything I needed. I sent Glucose buddy a tweet on twitter and also a email. I was wanting help in getting my infr back. That was a week ago and I haven't heard from anyone. So I'm back to loving my infr the old school way --- pen and paper.

Ghirardelli Chocolate

On November 29 2012, I was at Walgreens doing some shopping when I seen Ghirardelli's Midnight Reverie on sell for $1.99 each. Along with other things I did buy 3 bars of Midnight Reverie. When I got home I give my husband one. He took a big bite, and told me I wouldn't like it. I thought he was playing cause I'm diabetic and have to watch my carbs and sugar.  I opened mine and took a small bite, it was so bad I spit it out! I did call the company to make a complaint. At first they give me the run around on who I needed to talk to, when I did get to talk to a lady she was very rude and told me this was the companys busiest time of the year.

Government HIV Testing

By now most of us have heard the reports that the US government wants to mandate HIV testing. So I Googled it, and this is what I founded some of it may surprise you.

In the US ages 15 to 65 years old 200,000 people don't know they might have HIV. 1.5 million Americans do have HIV, with there are 50,000 new cases a year!

In the US there is already mandated HIV testing. Most likely you was not told of but was tested.

* When a female goes in to a Dr office to be put on birth control
*Pregnancy /Prenatal care
*Some that meets the ethnic background
* Getting a Visa to a other countries
*If you tell your Dr that you have had more than one partner without a condom

In 2006, the CDC in the US started "strongly" recommending that all sexually active people between ages 13 to 65 years old get the HIV testing at lest once a year, BUT hads not come into law yet to fully mandate.

Also the US is not the only country to do this. My research shows that South Korea, China, and India. Depending where you live is how hard they are on the mandated HIV testing.

Now with all that said I don't care if the US does mandate it for anyone over the age of 18. Maybe have it when you go have your yearly physical that you should have any way. I do not think they should give a HIV test to anyone that is under age of 18, without their mom/dad/caregiver asking for it to be done.

Also to have the HIV test is not a big deal most Dr offices can do it, or go to your local health department. Most health care companys pay for it, and most health departments will do it for free.

I had a HIV test done long ago at my local health department for free. I was young, unmarried and had a crazy "dating lifestyle". They let me pick to have a mouth wipe test or the blood work. I picked the mouth wipe. When my labs work came back I was told I was clean and healthy.
